Kia unveils Tasman pickup truck with ADAS & panoramic display

In a long-awaited reveal, Kia has introduced its first-ever pickup truck, the Kia Tasman. Set to launch in the Korean market in the first half of 2025, the Tasman will also roll out in select markets across Australia, Africa, and the Middle East. Available in both single and double cab styles, the Tasman offers three trims: Base, X-Line, and the off-road-oriented X-Pro.

Rugged Styling and Build

The Tasman adopts a boxy, utilitarian design, marking Kia’s entry into the pickup segment with a bold look. Its front features distinctive vertically stacked rectangular headlamps highlighted by C-shaped DRLs, integrated seamlessly into cladding over the wheel arches. Kia’s signature large tiger-nose grille and a prominent front bumper add to the Tasman’s commanding presence. The rear design echoes this look with C-shaped taillamps.

Cargo Versatility

Kia offers the Tasman with four cargo bed configurations: Single Decker, Double Decker, Sports Bar, and Ladder Rack. With a maximum payload capacity of 1,195 kg in two-wheel-drive mode and a towing capacity of 3,500 kg, the Tasman is ready for heavy-duty use.

Tech-Forward Interior

Inside, the Tasman sports a panoramic display unit, merging a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and a 5-inch central display. The dashboard is detailed with honeycomb patterning that cleverly integrates air vents. Additional interior highlights include a folding console table, dual wireless charging pads, and an optional Harman Kardon eight-speaker premium audio system.

Off-Road and Safety Features

Equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), the Tasman includes lane-keeping assist, blind-spot collision warning, and remote parking assist through Highway Driving Assist. Both the X-Line and X-Pro trims feature all-wheel drive as standard, with the X-Pro adding an automatic rear electronic locking differential and an X-Trek mode for low-speed off-road cruising. Terrain modes include Desert, Mud, Snow, and Rock.

Powerful Engine Options

Under the hood, the Tasman offers two engine choices. A 2.5-litre petrol engine delivers 277 bhp and 421 Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. A 2.2-litre diesel engine, available with either an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission, produces 207 bhp and 441 Nm of torque. The petrol model accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.5 seconds, while the diesel takes 10.4 seconds.
